What does "5-2 day programming" mean for this thermostat?

The 5-2 day schedule allows you to set one heating or cooling routine for the five weekdays and a separate routine for the two weekend days. This gives you the flexibility to save energy while you're at work during the week and maintain a different comfort level for your time at home on Saturdays and Sundays.

Does this thermostat require a C-wire?

No. The X2P is battery-powered, requiring two AA batteries (not included). This thermostat doesn't need a C-wire (Common wire), making it is a great option for older homes or DIY installations where pulling new wires through the wall isn't possible.

Can I use this for a heat pump system with backup heat?

Yes. While this specific model is listed for single-stage systems, the X2P family (including the RTH20B, RTH21B, and RTH22B) supports up to 2 Heat / 1 Cool stages, including heat pumps with auxiliary heat and conventional HVAC systems.
