These filters make sure my humidifier simply puts moisture in the air, not minerals etc from the water. Some people don't like paying for filters, but i don't like breathing icky air - they do what you WANT a filter to do! I replace every month, and I bought a supply to keep my two HEV620B humidifiers going until the spring!
